Hanoi’s development policy on tourism
According to the city’s vice chairman Mr. Ngo Van Quy, tourism will be set as one of the city’s key economic sector. Signed by Mr. Hoang Trung Hai, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, the Resolution No.6 is expected to help wooing more visitors and travelers and boost capability of staying long and returning rate. Hanoi targets welcoming 30 million tourists by 2020, including 5.7 million international visitors, and an annual 8 to 10 per cent increase rate each years according to the resolution.
To achieve its target Hanoi will select strategic investors for tourism projects in West Lake, along the new road to Noi Bai International Airport, Ba Vi National Park and Suoi Hai Lake, and Huong Son – Quan Son Lake in My Duc district.
The Department will carry out a pilot programme to introduce new logo, signposts in the city centre and as well as products from traditional craft villages such as Bat Trang and Van Phuc. In the period 2016 – 2020, the Tourism Department also asked for public to gather opinions. From then, the action plan will be built and mastered.
Hanoi on CNN
At the meeting about Hanoi’s tourism development, most attendees agreed that placing adverts on CNN was a good idea. As a result, the Tourism Department was assigned to create the plan to work with director of CNN in South East Asia.
The CNN is a 24-hour cable news. It was established in 1980 by Ted Turner and is owned by the Turner Broadcasting System division of Time Warner. It reports news, current affairs, politics, sports, opinions, features and business programming worldwide and is available in over 200 countries.
